Thorns or leaves?

Not everyone agrees with the idea of keeping a cactus at home. Cactus is said to bring bad luck to the house because of their “prickly and sharp” thorns. But is it fair to judge something based on its appearance?

Cactus is one of the easiest plants to look after and take care of. It grows in an extreme climate of heat and scarce water, doesn’t this make it special? A plant that converts its leaves into thorns to protect itself, a plant that grows fighting all the odds of survival and adapting itself to its surroundings just to be able to survive. Despite its thorns, it is from the inside mellow and just like any other plant, which is why desert travelers at times use these to quench their thirst.
Aren’t we humans the same? We turn our leaves into thorns to protect ourselves, we alter ourselves to survive the harsh realities of life. Those who are successful in doing so are called survivors and fighters, so why not this plant? If it’s because of its thorns, then we humans to have them in the form of anger, frustration, disgust, and whatnot, but we too have a soft heart inside, right.

All I’m trying to say is that things and people shouldn’t be judged based on their thorns, as we never know what they had to go through. What might seem thorns to you might be leaves for someone else.
